The Durango State Attorney General’s Office (FGED), through the Public Prosecutor assigned to the Justice Center for Children and Adolescents, and based on evidence presented to the court, obtained a conviction for Daniel Benjamín López Meléndez for criminal responsibility in the crime of sexual abuse (groping) against a teenage girl whose identity is withheld.
The incident occurred in October 2022, when the now convicted man, while in a settlement in the state of Durango, committed sexual acts against the teenager. The victim told her family what had happened, who then went to the FGED to file a formal complaint.

Later, Daniel Benjamín was arrested and brought before the Control and Trial Judge. An abbreviated proceeding was conducted, resulting in a conviction against López Meléndez of five years, five months, and 10 days in prison, as well as a fine of 28,678 pesos and nine thousand 600 pesos in reparation for damages.
