An underage foreign tourist was poisoned and robbed of her belongings last Sunday after purchasing a package to visit the Coco Bongo nightclub in Playa del Carmen.

The incident occurred around 4:00 a.m., but the victim’s complaint began circulating last Sunday night. Private paramedics treated the tourist on 12 bis Street, between 20th and 25th Avenues in the Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhood, after she suffered a seizure due to ingesting drugs or adulterated alcohol. Minutes later, the foreign tourist, apparently an American national, was taken to a Social Security hospital, where she was stabilized.

The teenager’s mother told authorities that last Saturday, while staying at a RIU hotel in Playacar, her daughter purchased a package to visit the Coco Bongo nightclub, which included round-trip transportation. She stated that during the return trip, her daughter began to feel ill, lost consciousness, and had a seizure.

She added that, after being abandoned to her fate and assisted by paramedics, her daughter was admitted to the emergency room of the aforementioned hospital. While on the stretcher, a Titos Tours van arrived. Five individuals got out of the vehicle, approached the minor, snatched her belongings, including an iPhone, and told the mother she would have to pay to get them back.
