Bags containing human remains found on the Poza Rica-Cazones highway

Dismembered bodies were abandoned in black bags on the Poza Rica-Cazones highway, at kilometer 180, on the morning of Monday, August 4.

At least one banner was also left nearby with messages typical of organized crime, threatening other criminal groups allegedly operating in the area.

Members of the Ministry of Public Security and other security agencies arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and closed off traffic on that stretch of highway.

Likewise, personnel from the Veracruz State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) arrived to remove the bodies and gather the necessary evidence to open an investigation.

To date, neither the Veracruz government, headed by Rocío Nahle, nor the FGE have issued any statement detailing the number or identity of the victims.

It’s worth remembering that the northern part of the state of Veracruz has recently been plagued by multiple acts of violence that have generated concern and anxiety among the population.

Among the most recent incidents are the deprivation of liberty and murder of a retired teacher and taxi driver in the municipality of Alamo de Temapache; and the riot in the Tuxpan prison, which left at least seven people dead.

Hasta el momento ni el gobierno de Veracruz, encabezado por Rocío Nahle, ni la FGE han emitido alguna comunicación de los hechos en donde se precise el número o identidad de las víctimas.
