As part of the stabilization of gasoline prices in Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum continues to promote the Extraordinary Verification Operation, part of the National Strategy. Various brigades, led by Iván Escalante Ruiz, head of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), and Armando Ocampo Zambrano of the Agency for Safety, Energy, and Environment (ASEA), carried out verification operations in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, and Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit. Twelve gas stations were temporarily closed and 20 measuring instruments were immobilized.
In Puerto Vallarta, the gas stations visited were: Servicio Las Mojoneras, Servicio Las Juntas, Servicios Gasoro, Gasolinera Los Vecinos, Combustibles De la Bahía, and one more gas station, Alfonso Cobián Ramírez.
During the inspection of the six gas stations, 13 measuring instruments were immobilized, and they were also temporarily closed for lack of a valid Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
Regarding Nayarit, on Friday, August 1, six more gas stations were registered: Energía de la Bahía, Autoexpress GSM, Grupo Gasolinero Samara, Operadora Construrent, Grupo Octano, and Oh My Gas. A total of seven instruments were immobilized, one of them for selling incomplete liters of fuel, and a complaint was filed with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
The six gas stations were also temporarily closed for not displaying a valid environmental impact statement.
In this way, Profeco and ASEA reaffirm their commitment to consumers by ensuring safety when purchasing gasoline. Regarding this strategy, 20 operations have been carried out in 19 states, two of them in Jalisco, with a total of 120 gas stations inspected, 110 closed, 629 measuring instruments immobilized, and 36 complaints filed with the Attorney General’s Office for the sale of incomplete liters of gasoline.
