294

This vacation, the Grand Mazatlán Aquarium becomes an ideal destination for children and adults looking for educational and fun experiences.

The aquarium offers a fascinating tour with more than 200 marine species, reptiles, mollusks, and invertebrates, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the Sea of Cortez without leaving Mazatlán.

Interactive and Educational Exploration

Alejandro Ruiz, representative of the Department of Communication and Science, explained that the tour simulates the history of a building that emerged from the sea, transporting visitors from the desert to the coast and finally to the bottom of the sea, where they can observe corals, colorful fish, giant groupers, and sharks.

At the end, explorers pass through a space with jellyfish before returning to the surface.

Moments of Adrenaline and Direct Contact with Marine Life
One of the most exciting attractions at the Mazatlán Aquarium is getting up close to the sea urchins, which can be touched with care. Luis Alberto Camarillo, a visitor from Saltillo, commented that the experience is a little scary, but safe if the caretakers follow their instructions.

For those seeking more dynamic interaction, it’s possible to feed rays, a cousin of manta rays.

Erick Carrillo, a ray keeper, explained that visitors are taught safe feeding habits, emphasizing that the animals are harmless if interacted with correctly.

Zanja Canales, a visitor, recounted: “I was nervous… I thought they would bite me, but they only suck. I gave them fish and shrimp.”

Shows and New Residents

The Mazatlán aquarium also offers ideal photo ops with jellyfish, penguins, and sea lions. Andrea Sánchez, a child visitor, shared her enthusiasm for the variety of species.

In addition, sea lion shows, bird feedings, snorkeling experiences, swimming with sharks, and the arrival of capybaras add to the entertainment offering for the whole family.
