Not even the pleas of horrified parents managed to stop Marilyn Manson from arriving in San Luis Potosí, where he was even received by the state governor.
On the night of Sunday, August 10, the American singer performed at the Foro de las Estrellas (Forum of Stars) of the 2025 San Luis Potosí National Fair. There, according to Governor Ricardo Gallardo, approximately 205,000 people gathered to sing along to songs like “Dispossable Teens,” “This is the New Shit,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “The Beautiful People.”
Protests against Marilyn Manson at Fenapo
Since the announcement of his participation in the fair, Catholic groups in the state have expressed their opposition by organizing demonstrations and collecting signatures.
The National Union of Parents (UNPF) was one of the most vocal in demanding Manson’s cancellation, asserting that all they wanted was a space for families that was safe and free of violence, pointing out the artist’s content, language, and background.
Archbishop Jorge Alberto Cavazos Arizpe even sent a letter to Governor Ricardo Gallardo expressing his concern about Manson’s performance.
However, Gallardo defended the singer’s performance:
“We are very respectful of all musical tastes and genres. Also of all religions. But we live in a secular state, and that must be respected. We love you very much, God bless you all,” he said at the end of his message in a live broadcast on his Facebook account.
There were even photos of the governor with Manson.
He was so in favor of Marilyn Manson’s performance at Fenapo that Governor Ricardo Gallardo didn’t miss the opportunity to meet the singer, exchange a few words, and even take photos with him.
“What a pleasure to greet Marilyn Manson, a historic moment for San Luis Potosí. We’re kicking off the best fair in Mexico!” he captioned one of the photos he shared on Facebook.
Likewise, he continued to share photos and videos of Manson’s performance on his social media.
“My friends, the FNP Forum is at its peak with the Marilyn Manson concert, in a vibrant atmosphere and with a lot of metal spirit. Because #Fenapo2025 can’t be described, it’s experienced!”
Marilyn Manson will be in Mexico City in December
If you missed Manson at Fenapo, the singer will headline Knotfest 2025, which will take place on Saturday, December 6th at the Banorte Stadium Esplanade (or the Azteca Stadium, for that matter).
In addition to Manson, there will be Falling In Revenge, Slaughter to Prevail, Shinedown, Hanabie, While She Sleeps, and Fit for an Autopsy. Tickets are now on sale.
