The Los Cabos business sector expressed its rejection of the blockades carried out on August 13 at Los Cabos International Airport by tourist transport companies dissatisfied with new regulations in the sector.

Business chambers warned that these types of demonstrations negatively affect the destination’s international image and disrupt the value chain that supports tourism.

👔Business leaders condemn blockade at Los Cabos Airport

Julio Castillo Gómez, executive president of the Los Cabos Coordinating Council (CCC), stated that the destination cannot be held hostage as a method of pressure by dissatisfied sectors, emphasizing that these actions directly damage the visitor experience and the destination’s logistical operations.

“We strongly and decisively condemn any action that harms the tourist destination, its image, and operations. This affects us all. Today it was transport companies, tomorrow it could be others. As a sector, we cannot accept or justify this as a method of pressure,” the leader stated.

Castillo Gómez warned that Los Cabos depends on a solid and reliable service chain, so these types of blockades generate a domino effect that compromises visitor perception, operational security, and the destination’s economic stability.

📣Call to establish clear agreements and avoid confrontations

The business leader also called on different sectors, including authorities, to analyze and formalize agreements in a clear and transparent manner during the working groups.

“We call on all sectors not to hold the destination hostage. Today it was the transporters, but no one should do this. Authorities must be more perceptive about how agreements are being managed and ensure they are actually fulfilled,” he added.
