This Saturday, August 16, 2025, the weather in the states of Coahuila and Durango will show contrasting conditions, with intense heat in several areas of Coahuila and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms in some regions of Durango. According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN) and official sources, the Mexican monsoon remains active, although its effects are distributed unevenly between the two states in the north of the country.

In Coahuila, a very hot and dry environment will continue, with no likelihood of significant rain. Maximum temperatures could reach 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit), while minimum temperatures will range between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius (73 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit) during the early morning. The sky will remain mostly clear, with intense sunshine increasing the temperature sensation and heightening the risk of heat exhaustion.

On the other hand, in Durango, the weather will be more variable. Intermittent cloudiness and isolated showers are expected during the afternoon, with maximum temperatures close to 29 degrees Celsius (84 degrees Fahrenheit) and minimum temperatures around 16 degrees Celsius (60 degrees Fahrenheit). This pattern has been present throughout the week, with brief showers that could cause flooding and reduce visibility on streets and highways.

The SMN’s national forecast indicates that heavy rains (50 to 75 mm) are expected this Saturday in areas of western Durango, accompanied by lightning, possible wind gusts, and hail. Meanwhile, in Coahuila, only light showers (5 to 20 mm) are forecast, with no significant impact in the state.

Regarding winds, moderate gusts of 40 to 60 km/h are expected in various areas of Durango and Coahuila, as well as in other northern states, which could cause dust storms in desert or rural areas.

What will the weather be like in Torreón?

For this Saturday, August 16, a mostly sunny day is expected in the Laguna region, with temperatures ranging from a high of 37°C to a low of 22°C.

The chance of rain will be practically zero, with just 0.5 liters per square meter, so no significant precipitation is expected in the region.

Wind will continue to be a significant factor. Gusts of 10 to 15 km/h are expected, coming from the southwest, with gusts that could reach 45 km/h, generating suspended dust in some areas of the metropolitan area.
