During the first half of 2025, 5,695,000 women entered Mexico by air, representing 51.7 percent of the total number of international tourists, as well as an increase of 1.8 percent compared to the same period in 2024, reported Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico.
“As President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo says: it’s women’s time. And in tourism, it’s clearly women’s time! The numbers don’t lie: more and more female travelers from around the world know that Mexico is a must-see destination, a safe place where they can explore and enjoy with confidence. Our country offers not only sun and sand, but also hidden gems that will delight. These results are the result of the security policies we are promoting and reflect the importance of continuing to diversify markets and promote Mexico as a safe, hospitable, and experiential destination for women around the world,” she stated.
According to a statement, Rodríguez Zamora highlighted that, according to information from the Immigration Policy-Registration and Identity of Persons Unit of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), from January to June 2025, the main regions sending female tourists were North America, with an 83 percent share; Europe with 7 percent; and South America with 6 percent.
By nationality, American visitors stand out with a 68 percent share, followed by British and Argentine visitors, both with 2 percent.
Rodríguez Zamora emphasized that the US market is consolidating its position as the main source of female tourism to Mexico, reaffirming the close tourism relationship between the two nations and the preference of female travelers for Mexican destinations. In turn, it reinforces the perception of Mexico as a safe and hospitable destination.
She added that the emerging markets with the greatest growth in arrivals of foreign women by air were Argentina, with an increase of 29 percent; South Korea, with 25 percent, and China, with 13 percent, compared to the same period in 2024.
She also stated that the main entry airports for female tourists were Cancún, with 47 percent of the total; Mexico City, with 14 percent; Los Cabos, with 12 percent; and other airports, with 27 percent.
“Tourism indicators show that Mexico is in fashion. From the Ministry of Tourism, we will continue working to translate these figures into well-being for all, consolidating the role of tourism as a generator of Shared Prosperity,” she concluded.
