The Yucatán Health Secretariat (SSY) confirmed the first case of screwworm myiasis (Cochliomyia hominivorax) in the state. This occurred in a resident of the municipality of Izamal, originally from Tabasco.
The patient was treated recently at the Yucatán Peninsula Regional High Specialty Hospital (HRAEPY), where he received timely and specialized care, leading to his favorable progress and discharge on August 11.
He currently remains under outpatient monitoring by Health Jurisdiction 1.
