250

When it comes to eating tacos in Mexico City, everyone has their favorite spot. Whether it’s the corner stand, the local one, or the one in a popular neighborhood. The truth is that tastes vary, and for some time now, the “nice” taquerias in Mexico City have been killing it. Not only because they’re located in more affluent neighborhoods, but because they truly offer high-quality tacos. Check them out and judge for yourself; maybe you’ll find your new favorite taqueria there.

La Bonvi – Lomas de Chapultepec

La Bonvi is the new taqueria from chef César de la Parra, who also heads up La Once Mil. This taqueria is located in Lomas de Chapultepec, on Pedregal 33, inside a space that looks more like a sophisticated restaurant than a taqueria. There’s a bar, tables, and an outdoor terrace. What to order? For starters, try the tuna tostada or the avocado tostada with beans and cream cheese. As for tacos, try the taco campechano, the taco with flank steak, and the New York taco, a house favorite.

La Once Mil – Lomas de Chapultepec

In the same neighborhood, but a six-minute drive or a 21-minute walk away, you’ll find La Once Mil. This is the first taqueria from chef César de la Parra, who somewhat changed the perception of what a good taco means. All tacos are made with freshly prepared corn tortillas and select cuts of meat, also accompanied by delicious, slightly spicy salsas. Favorites include the rib-eye taco, the Picaña and Sirloin trompo taco, and the mushroom barbacoa taco.

Maizajo – Condesa

Maizajo is much more than just a cute restaurant in the Condesa neighborhood. Since its opening, it’s dedicated to the research, production, and marketing of products made with native corn. It’s a space that pays homage to Mexican corn and the nixtamal technique, offering a variety of dishes based on corn. It also has an interesting taco bar where you can try everything from a rib-eye taco with potatoes to a suadero taco with a campechano sauce, and fish tacos.

Siembra Taquería – Polanco

Siembra Taquería is also one of the most popular taquerias in the Polanco neighborhood. As such, the project began as a tortilleria and occasionally offered tacos. This appealed to the clientele, and they decided to become just a taqueria, although Siembra Comedor y Tortilleria still exists. The taqueria offers 16 types of tacos, with gaona, picaña with chicharrón norteño, and the fish of the day al pastor being the three most popular. They also offer Mexican snacks such as tlacoyos, gorditas, and quesadillas, among others.
