As a result of the “Prevention Through Education” program offered by the State Attorney General’s Office, two minors were rescued, alleged victims of human trafficking in the form of prostitution. A female was also arrested for her alleged involvement in the aforementioned crime.
Initial investigations indicate that at a secondary school located in Superblock 64 of this municipality, a student recruited classmates to work as “escorts,” providing sexual services in exchange for money and gifts, both within and outside the state.
The teenagers were persuaded by their classmate, who took them to her “boss,” identified as Elizabeth Shekina “N,” who was likely in charge of recruiting, transporting, and delivering the minors to clients who hired them for sexual services, for a cost of between 2,500 and 3,000 pesos, of which she kept a 500-peso commission.
To perform these services, the minors were taken to motels; in addition to cash payments, the clients gave them gifts such as cell phones and other objects, taking advantage of the victims’ vulnerability.
After investigating the events, the Prosecutor’s Office requested and obtained an arrest warrant for Elizabeth Shekina “N” from a Control Judge. The warrant was executed and presented to the requesting authority. Her legal status will be determined within the constitutionally established period.
