Seven minors who were vacationing on the beaches of Chelem, in the municipality of Progreso, Yucatán, were abducted by their father without their mother’s permission, prompting an alert.

The alleged perpetrator remains missing, while the foreign-born children were located safe and sound in Mérida.

The mother, Malaka Pendley, requested assistance from authorities in the port of Chelem, in the municipality of Progreso, Yucatán. There, she reported that the children were with their father. However, 48 hours had passed without news of the children or their father, so she requested assistance from neighbors and the police to determine the whereabouts of her children.

The search concluded successfully at a home located in Tixcacal, west of the city of Mérida. The seven minors were found there, apparently without injuries or signs of abuse. However, the father was not located.

The children were transferred to the Specialized Unit for the Prevention of Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, where their mother will be reunited with them safely.

At this time, authorities have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the father’s absence or the emotional or psychological state of the children after their reunion. It has also not been confirmed whether a formal investigation has been opened to clarify the events.
