One unidentified person was killed, along with flooded homes, downed trees, and unusable vehicles. This is the toll left by an extraordinary rainfall of 83 millimeters (3.3 inches) recorded in several parts of the city last Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
The streets of Tepic became impassable rivers in minutes; areas that had not previously experienced flooding this time experienced considerable water levels. In the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, a neighbor saw a hand sticking out of the current from the front of a pickup truck and called 911, where they located a man between 40 and 45 years old.
The state government deployed an operation in various areas, where the water remained stagnant for hours, preventing residents from being able to begin draining their homes.
Fallen trees were also removed and vehicles trapped in the middle of the street by the strong current were moved to the sidewalks.
