Heavy rainfall on Thursday night and into the early hours of Friday caused puddles and flooding in several areas of the municipality of Corregidora.
Municipal Police officers assisted drivers whose vehicles were stranded on flooded streets and avenues.
One of the hardest hit areas was the Qrobús terminal in Balvanera, on the freeway to Celaya, where water reached nearly 30 centimeters high, partially disrupting operations in the area.
In the capital of Querétaro, the director of municipal Civil Protection, Francisco Ramírez Santana, explained that the rainfall generated runoff into the Cimatario 4 drain, putting pressure on the La Joya sump pumps, which were operating at maximum capacity.
Despite the magnitude of the rain, he assured that no serious damage was reported. He emphasized that the monitoring and response teams remained on guard to prevent major incidents.
The official noted that September is typically the month with the most rainfall and warned that more rain is expected this Friday and over the weekend.
Given this situation, he urged citizens to follow Civil Protection’s instructions and avoid traveling through high-risk areas during storms.
