The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, confirmed that company executives and public servants were arrested following the seizure of 10 million liters of fuel theft.
According to information from Reforma, the detained vice admiral is Manuel Roberto Farías Laguna, nephew-in-law of Rafal Ojeda (former Secretary of the Navy under AMLO), who was captured last Tuesday.
These arrests were made by members of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
Navy Highlights Fight Against Corruption
The Navy reported that several operations were carried out in recent days as a result of investigative work by the Semar, the FGR, and the SSPC, resulting in the execution of several arrest warrants against individuals linked to the illicit fuel trade.
“It should be noted that these actions were carried out in accordance with the principles that characterize the current federal administration in the fight against corruption and impunity; these principles will remain in force permanently in the institutions, in order to guarantee satisfactory results in the commitments made to Mexico,” SEMAR stated in a statement.

Manuel Roberto Farías Laguna, arrested on Tuesday the 2nd for alleged links to the fuel theft scandal, is a vice admiral and nephew-in-law of Rafael Ojeda, who served as Secretary of the Navy during Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s administration.
The vice admiral, who was taken to the Altiplano Prison, is the son of former Secretary Ojeda’s sister-in-law, according to Reforma.
The media outlet states that Farías Laguna served until last January as Commander of the 12th Naval Zone based in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.
A total of seven other people were arrested on Tuesday, five men and two women.
