Heavy rains and extreme heat today, September 9, in several regions.

231

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) warned that heavy rains are expected in Oaxaca and Chiapas on Tuesday, September 9, due to the combination of Tropical Wave No. 31 and a low-pressure area in the Gulf of Tehuantepec.

In addition, very heavy rains are forecast in Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, and Yucatán; while states such as Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Tamaulipas, and San Luis Potosí will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall.

Showers and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and hail are expected in states such as Nuevo León, Durango, Zacatecas, Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Puebla, and Morelos.

These conditions could cause flooding, landslides, and puddles of water, as well as reduced visibility on roads.

Hot Weather in the North and Coast of the Country

Meanwhile, the very hot weather will continue in the north of the country. States such as Baja California and Sonora will experience temperatures that could exceed 40°C, increasing the risk of heat waves and drought in the region.

Hot weather is also expected on the Pacific coast, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Yucatan Peninsula, with high temperatures that will contrast with the expected rainfall in these areas.

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) recommended that the population take extreme precautions, stay hydrated, and pay attention to official warnings, as rain and gusts of wind could cause trees and structures to fall.
