Businesspeople from various economic sectors in Sinaloa presented their security concerns to the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, on the morning of Wednesday, September 10, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya reported.

One year after the conflict between criminal groups in the region, the federal official visited Sinaloa and held a meeting with farmers and businesspeople from various sectors operating in the state.

The meeting took place at Military Air Base No. 10. It began at 10:00 a.m. and concluded at 12:00 p.m.

At the end of the meeting, Governor Rubén Rocha Moya offered a summary of what was discussed, noting that the businesspeople were able to raise their concerns directly with the federal official.

“They raised their concerns and were answered. Some suggestions were collected. Overall, it was an interactive meeting. Our commitment to Sinaloa is to continue working, fighting criminals until we achieve results,” he said.

Rocha explained that the participants made comments related to the issues specific to each sector.

“For example, farmers spoke about the need to take care of their fields and ensure the delivery of crops; merchants addressed their particular concerns. In general, these were observations aimed at reducing crime and creating conditions for full work,” he added.

The governor indicated that an assessment of the situation was also conducted one year after the violent events in the state, and affirmed that the presence of federal authorities will remain reinforced.

“We’re not talking about more troops arriving, but rather about those who are already here staying. No one’s idea is for them to withdraw, but rather to strengthen the presence of federal forces in Sinaloa,” he emphasized.
