Charros decorate the streets of Pachuca on their day

Amid the sound of drums, Mexican music, and applause, more than 200 charros paraded through the main streets of downtown Pachuca to commemorate their day.

The caravan left Hidalgo Stadium at 11:00 a.m., led by the State Police marching band and the “March of Zacatecas” performed by the Hidalgo State Symphonic Band.

Four riders, one of them carrying the Mexican flag, led the charro contingent. Senior citizens, women, and even children rode mares, horses, and ponies through the streets of Revolución, Madero, Plaza Independencia, Guerrero, and Avenida Juárez until they returned to the starting point.

From windows, sidewalks, and businesses, people applauded the contingent, took videos or photos of the parade, and took the opportunity to pose next to the protagonists.

Long live Mexico! and Long live the charros! These were phrases heard throughout, and the surprise arose when they saw the colorful and elegant outfits and the little ones riding horses.

The celebration culminated with a floral offering at the charro monument and the final of the Charro Excellence tournament, which began on September 4th.
