Asserting that “the true transformation of Zacatecas is built in the classrooms,” Governor David Monreal Ávila referred to a historic investment in the education sector, with 960 million pesos in infrastructure, benefiting more than 330,000 students.
One of the first actions taken by the state leader since taking office four years ago was the improvement of educational spaces, with an investment of 960 million pesos in the consolidation of 1,321 educational infrastructure projects and initiatives.
This investment benefited more than 330,000 students throughout the state of Zacatecas. Children and adolescents now enjoy more decent spaces, such as modernized classrooms, new auditoriums, rehabilitated and recently created courts, as well as the construction and delivery of new educational spaces.
Higher Education
The Governor of Zacatecas reaffirms his commitment to all higher education institutions in the state; An example of this is the support for the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ), in which 300 million pesos were jointly invested with the university in the construction and modernization of university facilities.
In a historic act of justice, more than 100 million pesos will be allocated to improving the educational infrastructure at the “Gral. Matías Ramos Santos” Rural Teachers’ College, which had been neglected for more than 30 years.
Education for Well-being
During the administration led by Governor David Monreal Ávila, education was placed at the center of efforts as a strategy to rebuild Zacatecas. Therefore, in the last year, more than 270 million pesos were invested to ensure that girls, boys, and young people’s right to education was guaranteed, providing them with quality school supplies, uniforms, shoes, backpacks, and lunchboxes, benefiting nearly half a million students.
The Secretary of Education, Gabriela Pinedo Morales, recognized the key actions benefiting more than half a million families and asserted that the distribution of supplies and backpacks is a support that helps students enjoy equal conditions, in addition to preventing students from dropping out of the classroom due to lack of financial resources.
The official said that the Governor’s most important achievement has been enshrining social support as constitutional rights, which means that students must receive their school supplies and backpacks at the beginning of each school year, as a guarantee that they have the necessary tools to achieve their academic goals.
In 2025, the state administration invested more than 1.6 billion pesos in priority areas such as road infrastructure, drinking water, security, health, and education.
These actions reaffirm that every peso invested in education is a seed for the future, and that the dignification of schools is the greatest demonstration of commitment and love for Zacatecas.
