Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González confirmed that the Mexico–Querétaro Train will have three stations in the state: San Juan del Río, Los Héroes in El Marqués, and Querétaro. The project will connect Mexico City with the Bajío region and will continue to Irapuato and Guadalajara.

“In the market study they conducted, many people travel from San Juan del Río to Celaya, and the fact that it’s a new market will greatly help competition,” Kuri stated. The governor added that the Los Héroes station will serve as a logistics point for departures to Guanajuato and the nation’s capital.

Regarding the progress of the works, the governor indicated that one of the main issues has been the clearing of the tracks.

“The only thing we saw in August or at the end of June, I don’t remember, was the issue of highway clearance. It’s very much on the agenda now, and we think it’s going to help a lot. For example, the route from Marqués to Querétaro will help a lot with connectivity, the airport, and San Juan del Río as well,” he said.

In his fourth state of the state address, Kuri emphasized that the remaining two years of his administration will represent a challenge in various areas.

“Here, we have a transparent government, a government that delivers results, putting strong pressure on the secretaries. Social work, security, what we’re doing. Eighty new police officers, something that has never been achieved in a single year for the state police. We have more than 600 police officers so far this year,” he stated.

The governor added that he will continue with work tours in the semi-desert, San Juan del Río, and the Sierra Gorda.

“We won’t let them down. We have to work hard for them in the mountains and the semi-desert,” he said. He also announced that projects with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) are under review, especially regarding sustainability and water issues.

During the interview, Mauricio Kuri acknowledged that the perception of security in the state has increased and reiterated his commitment to maintaining stability in the state.

“It’s always been because in Querétaro, the rate of underreported crimes is very low. You can also see that the perception of security has increased dramatically there,” he explained.
