A judge sentenced Uriel “N” to 17 years and six months in prison. He was a co-perpetrator of the murder of Sebastián, a 14-year-old boy with autism, on September 6.

According to the investigation, the incident occurred at the Durango Bakery, located on 5 de Febrero Street and Aldama Avenue, in downtown Gómez Palacio, where the minor, affectionately known as “Chechito,” worked occasionally.

Sebastian was well-known to the residents of this neighborhood, where he lived, and he often ran errands and did odd jobs for his neighbors to financially support his father, with whom he lived and who is unable to work.

According to his sister, Leslie Salazar, he was unable to attend high school this year due to the family’s financial hardship.

His sister, who has taken several actions to demand justice, and her lawyer, Zuriel Rosas, reported that that Saturday, Sebastián went to the bakery to ask if they needed anything, since he wasn’t scheduled to work that day. Dante, Isaac, and Uriel were there. Isaac and Uriel subdued the young man while Dante “N” played a kind of “Russian roulette” with a firearm.

“Dante grabbed a gun, a revolver, loaded a bullet into the revolver, turned the barrel, and aimed at the minor’s chest. He pulled the trigger and missed. That is, the shot didn’t go off. He tried again a third time, but it didn’t go off. On the fourth, just look at the degree of intent, it wasn’t until the fourth attempt that the bullet detonated,” Zuriel Rosas told Proceso.

The bullet lodged in Sebastián’s chest and exited through his back, also wounding Isaac. “Chechito” was taken by Uriel to the Red Cross, but arrived without vital signs, while Isaac was transferred to the San José Sanatorium, where he remained until the initial hearing.

Last Saturday, September 13, Isaac “N” was charged by a Control Judge for co-authorship in aggravated homicide with advantage.

The judge decreed an additional 60-day period for the investigation and ordered his transfer to the Durango Prison, where he will remain in prison. If convicted, he could face a sentence of 20 to 50 years in prison.

This Saturday, September 20, the initial hearing for the formulation of charges against Uriel “N” was held, where the judge charged him with aggravated homicide with advantage.

Uriel “N” accepted his responsibility through an abbreviated procedure and received a reduced sentence due to his lack of prior criminal record. The sentence was set at 17 years and 6 months in prison, after a one-eighth reduction from the minimum sentence of 20 years established by the State Penal Code.

Dante “N,” identified as the material perpetrator of the shooting, remains at large, so the Durango State Attorney General’s Office continues its search and location efforts.

The teenager’s family has received support from the community, with marches and vigils demanding justice. The family’s attorney, Zuriel Rosas, is even accompanying them at the request of Mayor Betzabé Martínez, after the family requested his support. The legal advisor confirmed that they will continue the legal process until all those involved face justice.

Authorities asked the public to report any information about Dante “N’s” whereabouts to 618 137 36 61. The Attorney General’s Office guaranteed the anonymity of those who provide information relevant to the location of the fugitive.
