President Lizette Tapia Castro, accompanied by members of the City Council, staff from the Zihuatanejo DIF (District of Inclusion), and the Municipal Health Department, received financial support this Thursday from the OXXO retail chain through the Cambio X Cambio program. This program provided medical equipment to strengthen the Salud en Puerta (Health at Home) program and the services provided in remote communities within the municipality.

The directors of the DIF (District of Inclusion) and Municipal Health Department, Ana Karen Rebolledo Hernández and Nieves Elizabeth Manzo Nava, reported that the supplies purchased include a resuscitator, an oxygen tank, a portable electrocardiograph, a portable ultrasound, blood pressure monitors, stethoscopes, screening kits, and a portable dental unit, which will allow for more comprehensive diagnoses during the Salud en Casa (Health at Home) program’s medical outreaches.

The manager of OXXO Plaza Morelia-Costa, Gisela Sánchez Ruiz, emphasized that this is the first time that executives from the retail chain have participated in the donation presentation ceremony for the Cambio X Cambio program, which provides assurance about the transparency of the funds raised through rounding up at the registers.

In her message, Mayor Lizette Tapia Castro acknowledged OXXO’s solidarity with the communities where they operate and emphasized that this support fulfills important objectives for Zihuatanejo.

“This team will strengthen something very valuable that we already have in Zihuatanejo, and with it, we will significantly reinforce the work being done in the Health Centers in rural communities, through medical brigades that contribute to the well-being of families,” she stated.
