Miramar Beach, one of the most popular sun and sand destinations in the country and the main one in Tamaulipas, has added new direct transportation routes from major cities in central Mexico, operated by the Omnibus company.

According to the municipal government, the goal is to facilitate the arrival of visitors and consolidate the beach’s image as an economic engine and tourist attraction in southern Tamaulipas.

Growth in Visitors from the Central Mexico Presumed
The Morena party mayor, Erasmo González Robledo, highlighted that Miramar Beach received 4.4 million visitors from January to August of this year, figures that reflect its growing popularity nationwide.

On Holy Week and Easter alone, 1.3 million tourists arrived, while in the summer, 1.4 million were counted.

“Three out of four visitors are repeat visitors, which demonstrates the loyalty to our destination,” he noted.

The Commercial Marketing Manager of Ómnibus de México, Carlos Mendoza Álvarez, said the company has strengthened its presence on the Gulf Coast, now offering connections from major cities such as Mexico City, Zapopan and Guadalajara in Jalisco, and Querétaro.

In addition to the traditional tourist flow from the Monterrey metropolitan area and the Huasteca Potosina region, the municipality reported sustained growth in visitors from Querétaro and Jalisco, demonstrating the interest of travelers from the Bajío region and the western region in experiencing Miramar.

Currently, one in three tourists comes from Monterrey and 23% from the Huasteca Potosina region, but the flow from the center of the country continues to increase.

A terminal could be built in Playa Miramar

The mayor emphasized that, in order to improve the tourist experience, the creation of a passenger terminal directly in Playa Miramar is being considered, which would allow buses to reach the heart of the destination.

He indicated that this infrastructure would facilitate visitor access, reduce intermediate transfers, and boost the arrival of new tourist flows.

“We are working on strategic alliances to ensure that people with disabilities and older adults can enjoy the beach in an inclusive manner; he reiterated that the southern region of Tamaulipas is considered one of the safest in the country,” he stated.

The municipal Director of Tourism, Santiago Janda, praised the natural wealth of Miramar Beach and the hospitality of the service providers.

“Miramar’s potential is enormous, and every effort to facilitate access brings us closer to making it a national benchmark for beach tourism,” he concluded, referring to the proposed direct routes to Miramar Beach.
