Within the framework of the establishment of the Mexico-China Friendship Group, Reginaldo Sandoval Flores, coordinator of the Labor Party (PT) Parliamentary Group, highlighted the strategic importance for Mexico of strengthening political, economic, and cultural ties with the People’s Republic of China.
Speaking, Sandoval Flores noted that China has established itself as the world’s second-largest economy and the leading global producer and exporter of manufactured goods, thanks to its reform and opening-up process, which began in 1978. This has made it the only country to have lifted its entire population out of poverty, a remarkable feat.
“The value of bilateral trade will exceed $120 billion in 2024; the trade balance favors China, as Mexico exports only $10 billion to China and China imports $110 billion from Mexico,” he explained.
The GPPT congressman maintained that the Mexico-China Friendship Group opens a new opportunity to promote joint projects for the benefit of both peoples and reiterated the PT’s willingness to strengthen relations with the Asian giant.
“All of this gives us a context that we can achieve important things with the Mexico-China Friendship Group. There’s no doubt we can do wonderful things, and I hope our committee chairman will quickly organize a visit to Beijing for us. We’re signed up for that,” he concluded.
