Every October 1st, Architects’ Day is celebrated in Mexico, and in Mazatlán, this date takes on special significance due to the role these professionals play in the city’s real estate boom and urban growth.
The president of the College of Architects, Eduardo Lizárraga Lizárraga, emphasized that there are currently 220 members, whose participation focuses primarily on private projects, housing projects of different levels, and the construction of apartment towers.
“An architect not only designs and builds, they are also a teacher, a developer, and a fundamental part of the city’s orderly growth. From a low-income housing project, guaranteeing habitability and lighting, to large apartment towers, their work ensures that the projects are executed correctly,” Lizárraga emphasized.
Although he acknowledged that the pace of construction has slowed slightly, he assured that work remains steady.
“Fortunately, there is still work for those who want to start in architecture, whether as residents or in their first professional projects,” he commented.
Architect’s Day Activities
As part of the commemoration, the Mazatlán College of Architects organized a breakfast and presented awards to outstanding members.
In addition, sporting events and friendly gatherings with other architectural and engineering associations are planned to strengthen professional ties.
The full schedule of activities will be shared with members in the coming days.
The association is also moving forward with the construction of a new headquarters, a project that seeks to respond to the growth of the association.
The first phase includes the laying of foundations and the construction of a warehouse for assemblies and meetings, with an investment of 1.2 million pesos.
The development will be carried out in several stages, and the final project and facility costs will be defined soon, in order to schedule the laying of the foundation stone.
