Ticket sales for the Querétaro-Madrid flight began this Monday, September 29th, after a delay due to federal procedures and international authorizations. The flight will be operated by Iberojet and will take off for the first time on December 21st from Querétaro International Airport (AIQ).
According to the airline’s official website, the round-trip ticket starts at 921 euros, equivalent to approximately 19,790 Mexican pesos. However, depending on the date of purchase and applicable taxes, the price can reach up to 1,566 euros, or approximately 33,000 pesos.
In a simulated purchase for a trip from Querétaro to Madrid on December 21 and a return trip on January 18, 2026, the detailed cost includes a base fare of €394.04, additional charges of €135.58, and taxes of €391.52, for a total of €921.14.
On platforms like Kiwi.com, the same flight with stopovers can cost over 21,600 pesos.
This flight will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, and positions the AIQ as a strategic point for travelers from the Bajío region. There are 196 Spanish airlines in the state, and within a 200-kilometer radius of Querétaro, 119,000 passengers travel to Spain annually, representing 11 percent of Mexican travelers to that destination.
“We are very excited that more than two thousand travel agencies in Mexico City and more than four thousand in Madrid already have this information about the flight,” commented Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, the state’s Secretary of Tourism.
The official emphasized that the flight will not only connect Querétaro with Europe in terms of tourism, but will also open up opportunities for trade and specialized industries.
“I think it’s opening a window, a connection between the Bajío region and Europe, and this commercial opportunity to bring much more European tourism, of course, but also specialized trade and industries,” she stated.
