When is the time change in Mexico in 2025?

Although daylight saving time will no longer be observed in most of Mexico as of 2022, uncertainty persists about when the time will change during this time of year. In 2025, only some municipalities on the northern border will have to make the seasonal adjustment to synchronize with the United States.

The 2025 time change in Mexico will occur on Sunday, November 2, when daylight saving time ends in the areas where it is still observed. At 2:00 a.m., clocks will be set back one hour, going from 2:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., to begin winter or standard time.

For most of the country, there will be no change, as daylight saving time was officially eliminated in October 2022 during the administration of former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. This means that clocks will remain the same year-round in most of the country.

However, in more than 30 municipalities along the northern border, the adjustment remains in effect for economic and social reasons, as these regions maintain close ties with neighboring cities in the United States.

Among the places where time will change in 2025 are:

Baja California: Tijuana, Mexicali, Ensenada, Tecate, and Rosarito.
Chihuahua: Juárez, Ascensión, Janos, Práxedis G. Guerrero, and other municipalities.
Coahuila: Piedras Negras, Acuña, Nava, Allende, and surrounding areas.
Nuevo León: only the municipality of Anáhuac.
Tamaulipas: Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, Matamoros, Camargo, and border municipalities.
The recommendation is to prepare to manually adjust clocks on the night of Saturday, November 1st, to wake up with the correct time on Sunday. In the case of electronic devices, the update is usually done automatically.

The reason only a few northern municipalities change their time is to synchronize with the United States, in order to facilitate work, school, and commercial activities between the two countries.

Para la mayoría del país, no habrá ningún cambio, ya que desde octubre de 2022 el horario de verano fue eliminado de manera oficial. ESPECIAL / CANVA
