The municipal governments of Tequisquiapan and San Juan del Río will coordinate efforts to address a shared road between the two territories, a project that could begin before the end of the year or in early 2026.

Héctor Magaña Rentería, mayor of Tequisquiapan, reported that both administrations held working meetings to define joint strategies to resolve the road problems affecting citizens of both municipalities.

“We already had a meeting with the mayor of San Juan del Río specifically to discuss how we will jointly address this road problem,” the official stated.

Coordinated technical work underway

The project includes the participation of technical teams from both municipalities, along with the support of the State Highway Commission. Topographic surveys and technical studies are currently being conducted to determine the project specifications.

“The survey is being conducted with the technical teams of both the mayors of San Juan del Río and Tequisquiapan, and with the support of the State Highway Commission,” explained Magaña Rentería.

Jointly Seeking Resources and Equipment

Both municipalities are working to identify and secure the financial resources and equipment necessary to execute the road project. The mayor of Tequisquiapan emphasized that inter-municipal coordination is essential to comprehensively solve the problem.

“It was difficult for only one municipality to address the section that corresponds to it because we wouldn’t be meeting the need or solving the problem. That’s why we sat down together, and we are jointly seeking the resources and equipment to be able to carry out this project,” he noted.

Unscheduled but Necessary Work

The official acknowledged that the project was not included in the annual work program of either municipality, but the political will of both administrations allowed it to be prioritized to address a citizen need.

“It was not included in the annual work program of either municipality, but I have always said that when there is will, there are no more excuses, and today we are working together to resolve this issue,” stated Magaña Rentería.

The mayor of Tequisquiapan estimated that the project could begin before the end of 2025 or in early 2026, depending on the availability of resources and the completion of the technical studies underway.

The coordination between Tequisquiapan, San Juan del Río, and the State Highway Commission represents a model of inter-municipal collaboration to resolve infrastructure problems that transcend administrative territorial boundaries.
