State Governor Mauricio Kuri González, along with Iridia Salazar Blanco, director of the Institute of Sports and Recreation (Indereq), kicked off more than 19,500 participants in the 2025 Querétaro Marathon, which saw a clean sweep across each distance.
The event attracted 37,500 runners and spectators.
The winner of the men’s marathon was Kenyan Wilfred Nyayogo X with a time of 2:27:15 hours. Kenyan Eliud Kipkorir Koskei finished second with a time of 2:31:08 hours, and his compatriot Geofrey Kipkoech Kirui finished third with a time of 2:31:29 hours.
For the women’s race, Kenyan Caroline Jebiwot Kriptoo took first place with a time of 2:42:35; Jalisco runner Fanny Jaqueline Oropeza Vásquez came in second with a time of 2:43:17; and Kenyan Elizabeth Jebet Chelagat finished third with a time of 2:45:00.
In the 21-kilometer race, Mayra Sánchez Vidal finished first among the women, Ximena Guzmán Martínez finished second, and Lorena Pérez Cortez finished third. In the men’s race, Roberto del Valle Castillo won the race. Emmanuel Ángeles Reyes finished second, and David Mendoza Sánchez finished third.
In the women’s wheelchair half-marathon category, Leticia Sánchez Morales won, followed by Evelyn Enciso Cervantes, and Ariadne Hernández Rodríguez took third place. In the men’s category, Gonzalo Valdovinos González was the winner; Pedro Dandarrilla Fernández finished second, and Ricardo Estrada Alviso finished third.
The winner and sole competitor in the visually impaired category was Alejandro Pacheco Castillo. For the women, Alina de Jesús Solís took second place, while María de los Ángeles Herrera finished third, and Palmira Martínez Cárdenas finished third.
The Querétaro Marathon started at 6:00 a.m. with the start of the wheelchair, blind, and visually impaired participants. The marathon then began, followed by the wheelchair half-marathon, five-kilometer, and 10-kilometer races.
The sporting event was supervised by the Secretariat of Citizen Security and the coordination of Civil Protection, which reported 18,000 spectators in the streets of the municipalities of Corregidora and Querétaro, plus 2,800 who participated without a ticket. These agencies were in charge of implementing the operation, which included ambulances, state and municipal patrol cars, private security, and the honorable fire department of the State of Querétaro.
