The two remaining sections of the Querétaro-Irapuato and Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo trains were awarded yesterday by the federal government to Mota Engil and the Ezvindi consortium, respectively.
These are the same companies that built the Maya Train.
Mota Engil beat Grupo Carso and a Chinese consortium for the 70.7-kilometer section from Apaseo El Grande to Irapuato, and had previously been awarded the 30.7-kilometer section from Querétaro to Apaseo.
The consortium of Grupo INDI and the Spanish company Azvi, known as Azvindi, won the 136-kilometer section from Arroto El Sauz to Nuevo Laredo, with a bid of 12.699 billion pesos, 35 percent below the bid submitted by ICA.
