Former Tabasco governor and former Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández, remains in the spotlight after being the subject of 37 criminal complaints filed with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR). The accusations allege an alleged breach of the Treasury of nearly 800 million pesos during his tenure as governor of Tabasco, specifically in the 2019 and 2020 fiscal years.
The complaints were filed by María Elena Pérez-Jaén, alternate federal deputy for the National Action Party (PAN). The legislator explained that the complaints are based on 37 observations made by the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF), which, to date, have not been properly clarified or resolved.
“He must put things in order, because what Adán Augusto López has been doing is already an abuse. This is evidence and evidence, Senator. Here is the evidence of the corruption of his administration in 2019 and 2020,” the PAN member stated.
Perez Jaén recalled that the senator challenged the complaints against him to be presented as evidence to prove the corruption cases during his administration, so now they must wait for the trial for his dismissal to move forward.
The alleged embezzlement encompassed in these observations is close to 800 million pesos. The acts of corruption or financial mismanagement allegedly occurred during the period when López Hernández led the Tabasco government.
His name has been mentioned in the context of the activities of Hernán Bermúdez Requena, who was his Secretary of Security in Tabasco from 2019 to 2020. His connection to this former official, accused of alleged ties to local organized crime, has raised questions about how much the then-governor knew. López Hernández has insisted that he was no longer Secretary of the Interior when Bermúdez Requena was removed.
