A U.S. citizen was found dead inside an elevator at the Kukun Hotel, located at 348 Insurgentes Sur Street, in the Roma Norte neighborhood of Cuauhtémoc. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Michael David N., was found semi-naked early Monday morning.
According to police reports, a hotel employee discovered the body inside the elevator and immediately alerted hotel management. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders confirmed the man was lying dead, wearing only underwear.
Findings in the Room
Following the discovery, officers from the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office inspected the room where the American tourist was staying. Inside, they found multiple packages of the medication Clonazepam, as well as two notes written in English with a red marker, which were addressed to the victim’s family.
Ongoing Investigation
Ministerial authorities cordoned off the area and carried out the corresponding procedures for the removal of the body and any evidence found. The body was taken to the ministerial amphitheater for the legal autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The investigation remains active to clarify the events that led to the young American’s death, while authorities analyze the contents of the notes and medical records found in the room as part of their ongoing investigation.
