On October 21, officers from the Querétaro State Police (POES) arrested René “N,” director of the Municipal DIF System of Pisaflores, Hidalgo, in a joint operation. He had an outstanding arrest warrant for public health offenses issued by Hidalgo authorities.
During the investigation, the Querétaro State Attorney General’s Office (FGEQ) confirmed that the official, who had previously been arrested by the state police, was linked to alleged illicit activities related to the trafficking of prohibited substances.
According to official information, during a security patrol on Federal Highway 19 El Lobo–Agua Zarca, POES officers detected a suspicious vehicle containing a man and a woman.
Upon conducting the corresponding inspection, officers located a .22 caliber firearm with a magazine and seven live rounds of ammunition. Both were detained and handed over to the prosecutorial authorities.
However, due to the nature of the seized weapon, the detainees continued their proceedings at liberty. Despite this, the Querétaro Prosecutor’s Office continued its surveillance of René “N,” which led to the discovery of an outstanding arrest warrant against him in the state of Hidalgo for public health offenses.
With this information, the municipal police forces of Landa de Matamoros and Jalpan de Serra, as well as the Querétaro State Police, coordinated their intervention, capturing the officer and fulfilling the court order. René “N” was subsequently handed over to Hidalgo authorities to continue the corresponding legal proceedings.
Querétaro authorities emphasized that this arrest is the result of information sharing between law enforcement agencies and interstate collaboration to combat impunity.
To date, the municipal government of Pisaflores has not issued a statement on the arrest of its DIF director, considering that a few hours earlier, the mayor of this municipality, Miguel Bahena Solórzano, was murdered. He was shot five times by unknown assailants who fled on a motorcycle on the night of October 20th outside his home in the community of La Estancia.
The Hidalgo Prosecutor’s Office will be responsible for determining the official’s legal status and clarifying his alleged involvement in public health crimes and whether he is related to the mayor’s death.
