Nagibe Abbud, an actress and singer who has dedicated herself to philanthropic work in vulnerable areas of the country, stated that what interests her most is using her voice to raise awareness about social issues and leave a positive and lasting impact on the community.
“I work so I can invest in what fills my heart, which is helping others,” said the actress originally from Chihuahua, interviewed during her visit to Playa del Carmen. She stated, “Mexico is not like Netflix or other platforms make it out to be.”
She is currently promoting a community program in Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, a place that inspired her because it is a state steeped in culture, hardworking people, and great talent, where the ejidatarios (communal farmers) are available to work but there are not enough opportunities for the people.
“We put resources and connections where they’re needed. It’s not about where you come from, but where you can make a real change. What we’re doing right now, in conjunction with state and federal agencies, is bringing technology and global knowledge through partner companies like Soft Line, which invests in communities to foster innovation, economic growth, and local training in education, agriculture, and infrastructure projects to create jobs and provide what the community needs to ensure lasting benefits,” the singer-songwriter said.
