This coming November 3rd, two new flights will connect Durango with Guadalajara and Monterrey, operated by Volaris. So far, the inaugural flight has sold out 60 percent, according to Fernanda Ramos Velasco, Undersecretary of Promotion for the State Tourism Secretariat.

After the inauguration of these flights, the State Tourism Secretariat will launch a promotional campaign locally, as well as in Monterrey and Jalisco, to encourage students, travelers, and business owners to use this new connection to the state.

And that Durango residents can also travel to these two important cities and have a greater range of connectivity options for Durango residents, as the holiday season is approaching and it is important to have these two destinations open. Fernanda Ramos Velasco
Ramos Velasco stated that, while the Durango state airport’s digital platform already has official sales for this flight, there are also purchase promotions available for the launch of the route, so the expectation is that sales of these flights will continue to boom.

The official added that these new routes will bring tourists arriving in 2026 for the World Cup to these two cities, which will host important games in this internationally recognized sporting event.

It should be noted that the majority of tourists entering the state are by land (80 percent), while the remaining 20 percent choose air travel. State authorities hope that the opening of these new air connections will increase the percentage of air travel.

“Look, we at the Ministry of Tourism are going to continue to strongly promote ecotourism centers, letting people know that ecotourism centers are safe, fully equipped, trained, and ready to welcome visitors during these months,” he declared.

The Durango State Ministry of Tourism seeks to boost Durango’s tourist appeal so that it can be chosen as a viable destination for international tourists arriving in Mexico.
