Between January and September 2025, the municipalities of southern Baja California Sur recorded the highest incidence of robberies, according to the most recent figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).
During the first nine months of the year, 4,028 investigation files were recorded for various types of robberies in the state, a slight decrease compared to the same period in 2024, when 4,078 cases were reported.
Municipalities with the Highest Incidence of Robberies
The types with the highest incidence were those classified as “other robberies,” which group crimes committed under unspecified circumstances, with a total of 2,547 reports. This was followed by home robbery with 638 cases, vehicle theft with 375, and business robbery with 363.
Despite this slight decrease, the data confirm that Los Cabos and La Paz account for the majority of the reports. In the former, 1,980 investigation files were opened, while in the state capital, there were 1,675, meaning that both municipalities account for almost 90% of the state total.
In contrast, the northern municipalities maintain a much lower incidence: Comondú recorded 188 cases, Mulegé 133, and Loreto 52, demonstrating a marked territorial difference in the incidence of robberies.
Although statistics show a slight downward trend, the concentration of crime in the main urban areas continues to be one of the greatest challenges for authorities. The incidence of robberies in Los Cabos and La Paz reflects the need to strengthen prevention and surveillance strategies.
