Course on Hazardous Materials Management and Incident Command System Strengthens Emergency Response in the Border Region
Puerto Peñasco, Sonora – The Hazardous Materials Emergency Response and Incident Command System training is progressing. The training aims to strengthen response capabilities in risky situations.
The Government of Sonora, through the State Civil Protection Coordination (CEPC), is conducting this activity in Puerto Peñasco.
The course began last Monday, October 20th, and will conclude this Friday, October 24th, with the participation of more than 100 representatives from various security, emergency, and civil protection institutions.
Armando Castañeda Sánchez, State Civil Protection Coordinator, highlighted the importance of this activity, which is part of the Border 2025 Program, with a large participation of municipal Civil Protection coordinators and various institutions.
The Border 2025 Program is a binational cooperation model that promotes joint actions between Mexico and the United States to improve public health and the environment in the border region. This program builds on Border 2020, strengthening efforts in environmental emergency prevention and response.
This training involves members of the Mexican Navy, Chihuahua State Civil Protection, the Mexican Army, the National Guard, the State Police Border Division, the Puerto Peñasco Fire Department and Civil Protection, as well as representatives of the Átil and Sonoyta Civil Protection, and the Mexicali Fire Department.
