Landslide reported on the Huajuapan de León-Oaxaca Federal Highway: Which section is affected?

The Oaxaca Center of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) reported that a landslide occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, September 27, 2025, on Federal Highway 190: Huajuapan de León – Oaxaca. Therefore, it urged extreme caution when traveling through the area.

The landslide occurred on the Huajuapan – Llano Verde section, kilometer 64 + 350, where personnel from the Oaxaca SICT Center responded to restore traffic as soon as possible, according to the information posted on social media.

“STAFF FROM THE SICT Oaxaca Center is traveling to the scene to provide immediate assistance and restore traffic as soon as possible,” it wrote on its Facebook page.

In its message, the SICT Oaxaca Center recommended that road users drive with caution when traveling on Federal Highway 190: Huajuapan de León – Oaxaca. Although it did not provide further details about the landslide, the cause is believed to be related to the heavy rains that have been recorded in the area this afternoon.

In recent days, landslides have also been reported on various roads in the state, such as at kilometer 174 + 350 of the Oaxaca – Puerto Ángel highway, Jalatengo – Puerto Ángel section, where traffic has reopened after the debris was removed.

Likewise, the Oaxaca SICT (National Traffic Commission) reported a landslide on Friday, September 26, on Highway 175, Tuxtepec – Oaxaca, km 61 + 100 (the Tuxtepec – Cerro Pelón section), which only allowed small vehicles to pass through from 6:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, on September 21, landslides were reported on Highway 175, Oaxaca – Puerto Ángel, the Miahuatlán – Puerto Ángel section, due to rains caused by Tropical Storm Narda. In response, the Oaxaca SICT (National Traffic Commission) urged drivers to drive with caution and remain alert to official information.
