More than 4 million people visited Oaxaca from January to August 2025: Sectur Oaxaca

As a result of tourism promotion efforts, Oaxaca recorded the arrival of 4,070,986 tourists from January to August of that year, generating an economic impact of more than 15,765 million pesos.

The State Tourism Secretariat (Sectur Oaxaca) reported that, according to data from the DataTur monitoring program and the Comprehensive State Tourism Information System, during the same period, the average occupancy rate in the state was 43.57 percent, while average spending was 2,251.55 pesos, with an approximate stay of 1.72 days.

These figures correspond to monitoring data recorded in Oaxaca de Juárez, Bahías de Huatulco, Puerto Escondido, Juquila, Ventanilla-Puerto Ángel; as well as the municipality of San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec; the Mixteca region, among other locations in the state.

The Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) reports that in Oaxaca City, Bahías de Huatulco, and Puerto Escondido, the estimated economic impact reached 13.759 billion pesos, 1.12 percent more than the previous year, equivalent to 153 million pesos.

In these main tourist destinations, cumulative hotel occupancy reached 52.26 percent, with the arrival of 2,282,089 visitors, who spent an average of 2,881 pesos and stayed approximately 2.09 days.

The Oaxacan capital recorded hotel occupancy of 51.58 percent; in Puerto Escondido, it was 41.52 percent; and Bahías de Huatulco accounted for 62.86 percent of the total occupied rooms.
