A judge ruled in favor of Uber, and therefore app drivers will be able to offer service at Mexican airports, including during the 2026 World Cup.

In a statement, the taxi service company reported that a Thirteenth District Administrative Judge confirmed a definitive suspension of a measure that prevented it from operating at airport facilities.

“A federal judge confirmed, through a definitive suspension, what Uber has maintained for more than a decade: it is illegal to detain drivers who provide rides through the Uber platform while dropping off or picking up users at Mexican airports,” the company stated.

While the amparo lawsuit is being resolved, authorities will not be able to arrest or fine platform drivers for operating in the federal zone of the 70 airports in the Mexican Republic.

The Federal Roads, Bridges, and Motor Transport Law establishes penalties of up to 500 UMAs, or approximately 57,000 pesos.

The company also asked authorities to comply with the judge’s ruling and took the opportunity to ask Congress for legislation to improve the tourism sector, both national and international.

Uber explained that platforms must have access to federal airports in order to facilitate mobility in those areas, which are “Mexico’s calling card to the world.”

Uber is confident it will offer service during the World Cup… and always
The company expressed confidence that the suspension will be reflected in the final resolution, considering that next year Mexico will host the most important soccer event on the planet: the 2026 World Cup.

“It is of utmost importance that we show our best side to the millions of tourists we will receive during the most important sporting event on the planet,” Uber said.

Uber operates in more than 700 airports around the world, including several in Mexico, Europe, the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Asia, according to its official website.

According to the company’s website, the company offers service at 30 Mexican airports, including Mexico City (AICM), Querétaro, Mérida, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Bajío, Mexicali, Puebla, Tijuana, Torreón, and others. See the full list at the following link.

Regarding luggage, Uber reminds you that capacity depends on each vehicle, so it is recommended to contact the assigned driver directly.
