Today, cold front number 11 will extend over the Yucatán Peninsula, bringing heavy, isolated showers to eastern Oaxaca, northern Chiapas, the Olmeca region of Veracruz, northern, eastern, and western Tabasco, and western Campeche; showers to the Tehuacán-Sierra Negra region of Puebla and the Capital, Las Montañas, and Los Tuxtlas regions of Veracruz; and isolated rain to the Valle Serdán region of Puebla and parts of Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
The polar air mass driving the frontal system will maintain low temperatures across northern, central, southern, and eastern Mexico, with frost expected in the states of the Northern Plateau and the Central Plateau. Likewise, the “Norte” event will prevail with wind gusts of 70 to 90 km/h in Oaxaca and Chiapas (Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec), and gusts of 50 to 60 km/h along the coasts of Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo (decreasing throughout the day). Additionally, waves of 3.0 to 4.0 meters in height are expected in the Gulf of Tehuantepec; waves of 2.5 to 3.5 meters in height along the coasts of Veracruz and Tabasco (decreasing throughout the day); and waves of 2.0 to 3.0 meters in height along the coasts of Tamaulipas, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo. Furthermore, humid air from the Pacific Ocean will generate periods of showers in Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, and Guerrero. and isolated showers in parts of the State of Mexico, Sinaloa, and Durango.
The periods of showers and locally heavy rainfall could be accompanied by lightning.
