With more options for Durango families and visitors, the state is expanding its connections with national destinations, stated Elisa Haro Ruiz, Secretary of Tourism for the State, representing Governor Esteban Villegas Villarreal, at the inauguration of the new direct flight between Durango and Guadalajara, operated by Volaris, from the Guadalupe Victoria International Airport. This route will have three weekly flights—Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—and is part of the tourism and economic strengthening strategy promoted by the current state administration.
“The plane is ready to fly; this direct flight, three times a week, will position Durango and open more business opportunities worldwide,” said Haro Ruiz, acknowledging the governor’s vision for growth and his ongoing efforts to attract new air routes that consolidate the state’s connectivity.
He added that this new route is the result of collaborative work between the State Government, Volaris, and the Central North Airport Group (OMA), and noted that the Durango delegation will be in Jalisco tomorrow to continue promoting tourism in Durango and strengthening business ties with Jalisco business leaders and authorities. “Durango is projecting itself to the country and the world with routes that bring families closer together, boost tourism, and foster new investment opportunities,” he emphasized.
For his part, Jorge Roberto García, Director of Distribution, Market Development, and Cargo at Volaris, highlighted that each flight connects dreams, people, and projects. “This new route will facilitate business and leisure travel, generating development by connecting Durango with one of the most important economic hubs in the country,” he stated.
Abelardo Muñoz, OMA’s Traffic Director, acknowledged the coordination between the State Government, the airline, and the airport in making this connection a reality, which will strengthen mobility and increase the number of visitors to the state.
Finally, Valeria Gutiérrez, the municipality’s Director of Economic and Tourism Development, congratulated Elisa Haro for her tireless work in strengthening Durango’s air connectivity. “The new route to Guadalajara adds to the success of the connections with Tijuana and Chicago, reflecting a solid strategy that promotes tourism and economic development. These are new opportunities that, working together, allow us to continue raising Durango’s profile,” she concluded.
