The excitement of cycling is about to take over the streets of the port city with the arrival of L’Étape Mazatlán by Tour de France 2025, an unprecedented event that will bring together thousands of amateur cyclists from all over Mexico and abroad this Sunday, November 9th, all ready to experience the closest thing to the legendary Tour de France.
Organized by Amaury Sport Organization (ASO), the same entity behind the Tour, this event is not just a competition, but a celebration of cycling in all its forms. From beginners to experienced riders, everyone will have the opportunity to ride along the iconic avenues of Mazatlán’s Malecón, with three routes designed for different levels: 37.7 km (Sprint), 65 km (short route), and 112.4 km (long route).
The starting and finishing point will be the Parque Ciudades Hermanas (Sister Cities Park), next to the Plaza Sánchez Taboada, with the race starting at 6:30 a.m. The routes will follow the coastline towards Cerritos and El Habal, with the longer route extending to the Mármol tollbooth.
In addition to the appeal of cycling in a safe and professional environment, participants will have the opportunity to meet two legends of Spanish cycling: Joseba Beloki and Pedro Horrillo, ambassadors for the event. Beloki, remembered for his three consecutive podium finishes in the Tour de France (2000, 2001, and 2002), was one of Lance Armstrong’s greatest rivals during his golden era.
With safety protocols, technical assistance, and intermediate challenges such as the King of the Mountains and the Intermediate Sprint, L’Étape Mazatlán promises to be an unforgettable experience for every cyclist who crosses the finish line. Beyond the competition, the event aims to promote sport, tourism, and family togetherness, positioning Mazatlán as an ideal destination for world-class cycling.
