Members of the Federal Passenger Transportation Alliance will suspend all their routes to any part of the country tomorrow from the bus terminals located in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, in protest against the incursion of what they call “pirate” services.
In several official letters sent to federal and state transportation authorities, they alerted them to the existence of a company called Transporpista, which initially planned to provide passenger service from the Isthmus to the city of Oaxaca via the Mitla-Tehuantepec highway.
Due to the collapse that occurred last June in the El Tornillo tunnel, the highway was closed, and Transporpista’s suburban-type vehicles began offering free passenger service for a week along the Pan-American Highway, from the Isthmus to the city of Oaxaca.
The members of the Federal Passenger Transportation Alliance agreed to suspend all their routes tomorrow. There will be no passenger bus service to any destination in the country tomorrow starting at 9:00 a.m.
There will be no routes operated by ADO, OCC, Fletes, or Sur, which run to various parts of the country, including Mexico City, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Chiapas, Tabasco, and Quintana Roo. Regional bus lines serving Salina Cruz, Matías Romero, Huatulco, and Unión Hidalgo will also be suspended.
Simultaneously with the suspension of service, local transport workers will block the Pan-American Highway near the Caracol de Tehuantepec and prevent vehicular traffic toward the city of Oaxaca, demanding an end to unlicensed transportation.
