Grecia Quiroz, the mayor of Uruapan, Michoacán, revealed the names of politicians whom the late mayor Carlos Manzo “obstructed,” and whom he himself had publicly accused.

In a press conference in Uruapan, the acting mayor pointed to figures from the 4T movement whom Manzo had publicly denounced. These include Morena Senator Raúl Morón, a candidate for governor of Michoacán in 2027; Federal Deputy Leonel Godoy, former governor of the state; and former mayor Ignacio Campos Equihua.

“I need to know, Uruapan needs to know, Mexico needs to know who the masterminds behind Carlos’s actions were, because we all know that Carlos was an obstacle to many people, but specifically to certain individuals,” the mayor declared.

Upon making such an accusation, she was questioned about the specific names and revealed who she and her late husband, who was murdered on November 1st during the Festival of Candles in Uruapan, were referring to.

“Carlos said it a lot on his ‘Nochecitas’ program; he specifically pointed to Leonel Godoy, Raúl Morón, and former mayor Nacho Campos. That’s not a secret. You know that he specifically named these individuals and held them responsible for certain things or actions they took at the time,” Grecia Quiroz stated.

She even recalled that Juan Manzo, Undersecretary of Government of Michoacán and brother of the murdered mayor, asked that no line of investigation be ruled out, including the possibility of a political motive.

“His brother Juan said it in an interview, that he demanded they be investigated, and I have done the same,” Grecia Quiroz recalled.

In recent days, the Undersecretary of Government in Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla’s administration requested in an interview on Radio Fórmula that all lines of investigation be exhausted, including the political motive.

“All lines of inquiry must be exhausted, including the possibility of a political motive, since Carlos had made very important accusations against political figures with whom he was an adversary, and it was important that this investigation be completed,” he said.

In that interview, Juan Manzo Rodríguez mentioned that his brother had had “disputes” with Senator Raúl Morón, Representative Leonel Godoy, and also with the former mayor, Ignacio Campos.
