Suspected members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel arrested in Quintana Roo

Authorities arrested two alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) on Saturday in Quintana Roo, a Mexican Caribbean state. The men were identified as Marcos Josué ‘N’ and Ángel Roberto ‘N’, alias ‘El Flaco’.

The Quintana Roo State Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC-QROO) reported on its social media account that Marcos Josué ‘N’ is considered the CJNG’s main logistics operator in the state, responsible for distributing weapons and tactical equipment in the municipalities of Benito Juárez, Puerto Morelos, Isla Mujeres, and Kantunilkín, the municipal seat of Lázaro Cárdenas.

The SSC also detailed that the operation was carried out in the northern part of the state in coordination with the Mexican Navy (Semar).

The arrested men were charged with drug trafficking and violations of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives.

The Quintana Roo Public Security Secretariat (SSC-QROO) also highlighted that during the arrest of the two individuals, authorities seized two handguns with magazines loaded with seven and 11 rounds, respectively; 32 rifles, all with magazines, one with 56 rounds and another with 30; 12 handguns with magazines; 125 rifle magazines; and two silencers.

In addition to the seized items, authorities confiscated four riot grenades and four chemical grenades; 26 boxes of ammunition of various calibers, each containing 50 rounds; 17 boxes containing 20 rounds each; nine bulletproof vests; nine black T-shirts bearing the inscription ‘Deltas Q. Roo CJNG’; 15 black ‘Operativa Jaguar’ caps; and six ‘Deltas Operativo Jaguar’ patches.

They also seized two large bags of suspected marijuana; 13 small bags containing the same narcotic; and 52 small bags containing crystalline fragments similar to crystal meth. and 50 small triangular bags containing a white powder similar to cocaine.

Also seized were five notebooks with handwritten notes, two backpacks, three plastic boxes, a cooler, a suitcase, four cell phones, a large case, a gray case, three drones (one with a controller and two batteries), two sets of license plates from the state of Jalisco, and two vehicles: a gray Volkswagen T-Cross and a white Nissan Frontier.

The agency reported that the detainees were turned over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking.

The CJNG is on the United States government’s terrorist list, having been considered for years one of the most powerful cartels in the world, along with the Sinaloa Cartel.
