At least ten Mexican and foreign women were rescued from a human trafficking and prostitution ring in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, the State Attorney General’s Office reported.

The rescue took place at a bar located on the Cancún-Tulum federal highway, between Avenida Juárez and Calle Sur. The women, including eight Mexicans, one Cuban, and one Argentinian, are presumed victims of acts that may constitute the crime of human trafficking for the purpose of prostitution.

How were the women rescued?

Following a court order, the participating agents proceeded to place the corresponding seals to secure the premises, which were then placed under the custody of the Attorney General’s Office. The women were transferred to the State Attorney General’s Office, and the foreign victims were taken to the National Institute of Migration.
