Violent early morning in Tabasco

A wave of violence swept through Villahermosa and its surrounding area in the early hours of this morning, including the burning of vehicles at a car dealership, the placement of tire spikes on highways, and a shootout between police and armed men that left one suspected criminal dead.

In the early hours, reports surfaced of devices being placed to disable moving vehicles, but the most significant incident occurred at a car dealership located on the Villahermosa-Cárdenas highway, where eight vehicles were burned. Two more vehicles were also reported burned in the state capital.

The tire spikes began being scattered last night and continued to appear on the highway connecting the Tabasco state capital with the city of Cárdenas into the early morning hours.

They were also found on streets in the Atasta neighborhood, in the Ixtacomitán ranchería, and on the Villahermosa-Luis Gil Pérez highway.

Also, during the early morning hours, a man lost his life in a confrontation between suspected robbers and police in the town of Bosques de Saloya, in the conurbation of Nacajuca.

The armed men clashed with agents of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSyPC) after robbing a convenience store; two other suspected robbers were wounded.

The wave of violence also included the discovery of a charred body in the town of Francisco J. Santamaría, in the municipality of Jalapa.
