The Mexican National Team will play its second match of the 2026 World Cup in Guadalajara, a game scheduled against South Korea on June 18 at Estadio Guadalajara. The announcement was made this Friday during the draw held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., where the main matches to be played in Mexico, the United States, and Canada were determined.

The Guadalajara stadium will host four World Cup matches: the first on June 11, the same day as the World Cup’s opening ceremony, and two more on June 23 and 26. The draw also confirmed that Jalisco will host two playoff matches in March 2026: New Caledonia vs. Jamaica on the 26th, and the winner of that match will face the Democratic Republic of Congo on March 31. In addition to the sporting schedule, the draw revealed that the opening match will be played between Mexico and South Africa on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City.

According to the state government, Jalisco expects around three million visitors during the 39 days of the Fan Festival planned for Guadalajara’s Historic Center, which will be promoted as one of the cities with the greatest tourist and cultural offerings. The event in Washington brought together authorities and figures from the world of sports and politics, including Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, President of Mexico; Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA; Donald Trump, President of the United States; and Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada. During the event, Sheinbaum highlighted that Mexico will be the first country to host a World Cup three times.
